Focus Reset Challenge: Bible Study - Part 1/5
The first Bible Study that we pursued in Jan 2021 was the Focus Reset 5-Day Challenge by Christine Caine. It was great to do the session videos and then, to contemplate and fill out the worksheets for myself everyday. Our reflections on each day's content was nice. Felt a camaraderie, because we read the same Bible content, and went through the same questions to arrive at our answers after introspection of self.
Where you FOCUS is where you'll go
- TRUE PATH is Jesus
- Jesus is the START of every Good Journey
- Commit to FIX YOUR EYES on Him and He will give you the following to get where HE called you to go:
- the desire
- direction &
- endurance
- Giving attention to what's truly important
- Minimizing/Letting go of what's not important
Hebrews 12:1-2 -
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily tangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Write our Hebrews 12:1-2 in own words:
Because we are looked on by a great cloud of witnesses, let us:
- Dispose off everything that Blocks or Stops us from our relationship with Jesus.
- Dispose off everything that causes us to easily get caught in sin.
- Persevere and run toward Jesus through whatever life brings.
- Fix our eyes on Jesus (who pioneered our faith and is making it perfect) who is our GOAL in life.
- Jesus our example - saw the joy before Him in obedience - bore the cross, took the shame from humans as His purpose, but is now at the right hand of God.
- Thoughts filled with distractions
- When we allow our minds to drift
- Our daily focus dominated by: to-do lists, problems at work/kids/relationships, anything not yet accomplished
Focus Thieves:
(examples
- Things that take up time / energy
- Thoughts / activities that hold me back than drive me forward
- Financial struggles, checking phone, dwelling on hurt feelings)
- Phone checking - Whatsapp, FB, Insta
- Making plans (to-dos for family)
- Feeling not good enough / no plan or focus for myself.
- Each of us are given a life journey designed specifically for us.
- God wants us to:
- to PERSIST
- with DETERMINATION
- and an UNRELENTING focus on Jesus
- Grow SPIRITUALLY daily
- DO Something to help someone every day
- WORK/BUSINESS to help people and to be a better person around my family
